Born in Kidderminster in 1947 Martin studied at Gloucester and then Hornsey school of art 1965 -1969.

Martins art has documented the life and people of the Portobello area for many years, often figurative and mostly based on characters of the area, Martin’s canvases bustle with the bohemian characters that have made this area such a great arena for capturing the diversity of London life.

Martin’s medium of choice is predominantly acrylic on canvass but his use of water colours and pastels on paper, have allowed smaller and looser pieces of work to accompany the larger canvasses.

The multicultural inhabitants and atmosphere of carnival can be seen in so many of his paintings.
