This is a typical example of Susanna’s charcoal, carving the image and shape as if out of a piece of rock. The heavy lines are drawn over with white and grey chalks, building up layers of pigment on top of each other.
Not captured on camera is the range of colours and hues that exist in Susanna’s work, this gives the picture a quality that only exists when you are in front of the actual artwork.
